Frequently Asked Questions

We'd like you to think of us as your personal computer technician, whether we help you with your computer or your office's systems. You can call us anytime you have a question, problem or concern regarding your computer, its peripherals, and more. Remember – the only dumb computer question is one that isn't asked! Below you'll find a few of our most frequently asked questions, and their answers. If you don't see your question or answer below, just call us at (423) 246-1112.
  • My computer has gotten so slow lately. I don't know why! Can you help?

Definitely – this is one of the most frequent requests we receive. We will diagnose your computer for any viruses or spyware, and give your computer a thorough tune-up. If necessary, we may recommend adding more RAM memory to your computer to help speed things up even more, when possible.

  • My computer goes to a blue screen with a bunch of “memory dump” code on it. What does that mean?

It means we need to clean up your computer's temporary files and tune it for better performance. Your computer is currently having difficulty using its short-term memory because functions are taking up space that probably shouldn't be there any longer. We'll diagnose your problems and make sure your computer is running in tip-top shape by the time we're done with it.

  • I have two computers at home, and recently purchased a printer I'd like to use for both. I've heard that if I have Wi-Fi, I can print to the printer from both machines, without cables – is this true?

It's absolutely true. We can help you set up a wireless internet connection in your home from which all of your computers can connect to each other, and your printer, via a network. This network will only be accessible by your computers, and cannot be accessed from those outside your network, with the proper installation. This is a great way to be able to efficiently work from your home, with either computer.

  • I've recently purchased a package with several software titles, but I don't feel comfortable with the installation process. Can you help?

Certainly. We're well-versed in installing software on both PCs and Macs and can ensure that if you need to uninstall your software, it goes smoothly as well. On occasion, you may find that your software will need to update itself; it will connect to the software website when you connect to the internet, to search for any updates or new features that you're entitled to with the purchase of the software. This process is completely normal, and we can help you with these updates if you feel uncomfortable with those as well.

  • I've just bought my first computer, printer, keyboard, and mouse. Can you help me set it all up so it works correctly?

Absolutely – just give us a call, and let us know when you'd like us to come over and get your computer up and running for you. We'll make sure the cables are in the right spots, your monitor is at a comfortable height, your mouse is available to your dominant hand, and then we can help set up any appropriate security measures, such as passwords, etc if you need them.
